2 Objectives  What is it?  How do you use it?  Why should I bother?  Is it any good?

3 What is a Digital Story?  A digital story is the practice of combining narrative and digital content, including images, sound, video, and music to present information of a specific topic, to help convey meaning, enhance experience and understanding to the audience.  It allows one to teach and provide access to many learners.

4 Digital Stories Can Be:  Descriptive (field trip)  Instructional (“How to” in science)  Biographical (Interviewing)  Informative (What to expect in the next grade)  Practical (Create comic book stories in foreign language)  Persuasive (Public Service Announcement/Advertisement)  Historical (Assassination of JFK)  Reflective (Interpretation of a poem, short story)

5 General Things to Consider  Tell a good story. IT IS NOT ABOUT THE TECHNOLOGY.  Story is meaningful  Plan, Prepare, Previsualize  Keep audience in mind  Get the facts straight (write, edit, revise)  Understand and master equipment and software you use  Challenge yourself to tell your story creatively
