2 What the Early Intervention Team do Providing mainly FREE diversionary activities for young people aged 12–18 years across West Dunbartonshire under the banner of the Pulse, focusing on identified antisocial behaviour hotspot The major source of funding for the Pulse is through WDC Community Safety & Anti- Social Behaviour Service (CS & ASBS) with additional funding bids continually being explored In addition to the Pulse activities the Early Intervention Team deliver educational programmes exploring Community Safety issues and also lead in campaigns such as the No Knives, Better Lives & Experiential Learning The activities are delivered under the banner of the Pulse

3 Activities under the banner of the Pulse Youth clubs & drop in's Closed assessment & issue based groups Peer education group Schools programmes with a focus on community safety Fund indoor skatepark Fund Leisure Trust activities Midnight Leagues Gigs & DJ nights once a month Outreach sessions Work in partnership with the Youth Alliance Work in partnership CHCP

5 How we include NKBL into our day-to-day business The Early Intervention Team are the lead for the No knives, better lives (NKBL) campaign within West Dunbartonshire Continue to drip feed the serious consequences of knife crime to young people within West Dunbartonshire along with key partners We communicate regularly with National coordinators Website FB Network meetings We-CTV Mediums used to date include: –Youth Groups –Peer education –School presentations –Midnight leagues –Social media competitions –Groupwork sessions –Peer education which is one of the most effective metho ds

6 Peer Education The Early Intervention Team work in partnership with Community Learning & Development to deliver a peer education group To date the group have successfully completed –Training residential courses –Delivered workshops to schools –Delivered workshops in Youth groups –Delivered workshops as part of Experiential Training

7 Experiential Learning The Safety4Kids programme is a multi agency event Taking place over the first two weeks in September every year The venue is a local CE Centre managed by WD Leisure Trust The aim is that every Primary 7 child from all Primary Schools in West Dunbartonshire will have the opportunity to attend the full day event, 941 children Each session enables the children to go round 10 separate learning stations where they participate in activities themed around: –Water Safety –Rail Safety –Transport Safety –First Aid –Serious & Organised crime –Litter Control –Wrecked & Wasted –Fire Safety –Internet Safety –NKBL
