1 0RANGE DISTRICT SPRING CAMPOREE 2012 BOY SCOUT EVENTS

2 BOY SCOUT EVENTS 1.Canoe Race 2.Campsite set up/ take down 3.Basketball Throw 4.Archery 5.Scout skills relay 6.Frisbee Golf 7.3 inning softball 8.Orienteering: Compass Race 9.Fire Brigade Relay 10. First Aid/Life Saving

3 BOY SCOUT EVENTS The object of the Boy Scout Events are to incorporate Scout skills with competition and fun amongst patrols and troops. Each participating Scout will demonstrate skills in many areas found in the Scout handbook. Each scout, patrol and troop will earn points for their participation. The troop with the most points will earn the title of “Best Troop of Orange District.” That troop will receive a ribbon to hang on their troop colors and their name on a District trophy.

4 BOY SCOUT EVENTS Scouts will also earn points outside of the Saturday competition by following the Scout Law. These will be “blind” scenarios that will use each part of the Scout Law. As a scout is observed completing the scenario he will be awarded points. Scouts/Patrols and troops will earn points outside the Saturday competition by doing the following: 1.Having their Scout handbook on person at all times. 2.Having participated in a flag ceremony. 3.Having volunteered to help with Cub Scout activities. 4.Having set up a campsite that meets BSA regulations. 5.Having cleaned a campsite (“Leave no trace”) 6.Having set up a “gateway,’ ‘landmark,’ or, ‘display” of the troop’s colors and designation using Pioneering skills. 7.Having 80% of the troop membership in attendance. Bonus for 90% or more. 8.Having an adult leader or junior ASM volunteer to run/judge an event (50pts) 9.Having participated in the OA ceremony (new/active) 10.Having assisted in putting the cross-over bridge together. 11.As ideas come up.

5 BOY SCOUT EVENTS Points will also be awarded for the troops who complete registration early (by March 1, 2012). The First troop fully paid and registered will earn 50pts (bonus for 80% or >90% participation). Second Troop 45points + bonus and so on. All others past the third troop will receive 25pt + Bonus. Please turn in your registration by mailing the list and check to council office. Postmarks will determine order received.
