5 5 Current programme: Youth in Action Strengths A programme for ALL young people (not « elistist »; 30% part. with fewer opportunities; easy access) To support young people, youth workers and youth NGOs Added value: same opportunities throughout Europe (filling gaps); laboratory to test new ideas Cost-effective: 130 000 part. for 150 MioEUR Positive impact: 84% part. plan to engage in further education; 72% feel more European; 66% think job chances have increased… Popular (among stakeholders, policy makers, in Neighbouring countries…) Weaknesses Insufficient visibility (except European Voluntary Service) A rich but fragmented and fragile network of multipliers Intangible impact sometimes difficult to measure

6 6 Future Programme A tool to support a comprehensive Youth Policy: Employability: YoM, learning mobility, non-formal learning Citizenship: Youth Strategy 2010-18, participation, European project Ensuring a sustainable impact on systems: Source of inspiration… (ex: BE, EL, FR…) … and capacity to mobilize complementary funding (regional partnerships, Corporate social responsibility…) With a stronger focus on intermediaries: Youth workers: enhanced multiplying effect… Youth NGOs: Europeanisation… And a reinforced focus on young people with fewer opportunities: Impact on individuals Including unemployed youth
