Protein Synthesis How to code for the correct amino acids

DNA Found in nucleus A is still pairing with T

m-RNA Being made in the nucleus Will leave nucleus, go into cytoplasm to ribosome

M-RNA read at ribosome in chunks of three (codons) Calls for t-RNA which brings certain amino acids Chains of amino acids link

Stop codon Last group of three in the m-RNA referred to as the stop codon Amino acid chain is finished

Protein is made Amino acid chain folds to form a protein A wrong amino acid would change the form of the protein (mutation)

Student’s activity DNA creating m-RNA

mRNA broken into codes of three (codons) Message is read at the ribosome

mRNA codes for appropriate tRNA tRNA will bring the appropriate amino acid

Based on code, students find the appropriate amino acid
