4 Create an international system safety network (ST1) Increase in international SSS member- ship Increase in number of countries and numbers within a country attending the international conferences Four year increasing trend!

5 Improved and expanded web site, with more links CD-version of System Safety Analysis Handbook offered TV Chapter nearly complete with CD containing all SSS Conference Proceedings and HPs Increasing the number of hits and links to the Society Web page. 24-Hour Information Resource (IN1)

6 Improve Response to Customer Needs (IN2) Significant improvements to HP resulting in increased advertising revenue Established Director of Conferences Significant use of web site to distribute information for international conferences Updated SSS Operations Manual

11 Where is the SSS Going? Update and implement Strategic Plan Priority focus on:  Conduct Society Business with Guiding Principle Values  Serve our customers  Expand awareness of the Society  Integrate the Society More to Industry  Mentor and build-in incentives for future Society Officers

12 Steve Smith - Director  develop guidance on SSS interface and reporting requirements for committee representatives;  identify appropriate society liaison opportunities;  monitor and respond to appropriate government issues, standards development, etc.;  issue position statements and raise awareness of system safety in appropriate arenas;  nominate SSS candidates to serve on appropriate federal committees and inter-society committees;  maintain coordination with US National Research Council and National Academy of Engineering  coordinate with professional societies - NSPE, AAES, SAE, etc.  oversee the workings of the Joint ASSE/SSS Task Force  develop peer review process

13 Benny Smith - Director  engage chapter presidents to enhance membership benefits;  develop and promote roadmap to organize and form new chapters;  assist chapters develop pertinent projects that support the Society goals and objectives;  facilitate establishing new Chapters where there is sufficient interest and a critical mass of members/potential members;  maintain the Chapter Management Guide;  help Chapters recruit speakers for meetings, solicit quarterly chapter reports for EC meetings and the Society’s Journal;  monitor the health of Society Chapters;  develop intervention strategy for chapter rescue and advise EC whenever a Chapter is experiencing difficulties;  develop a Plan of Action and Milestones to restore inactive chapters to active status;  coordinate development of chapter annual reports, review the reports and provide a summary to the Executive Council annually.

14 Bob Sweginnis - Director  develop international involvement agenda;  develop member professional development plan;  define opportunities for member licensing and professional certification;  coordinate nomination and selection of Society professional awards;  develop professional courses and establish committee of instructors;  develop system safety certificate program
