WE WILL DESIGN SHOES FOR OUR SCHOOL Shoe Design

Background Our school PTA wants to start selling school apparel. They wish to add shoes to the list of items. However, time is short and they do not have the time to create a design for the shoes. Instead, they have asked that we create the design. They wish for a shoe design that is suitable for both genders. Are you up for the challenge?

Write up your plans On a sheet of paper you will write your thoughts and ideas to the design. This will be turned in. Write your name, class period, and title the page “Shoe Design”

Step 1: Add the elements Color: You can pick 3 colors for the shoes. The colors must fit under these categories:  They can be a monochromatic, complementary or analogous color scheme.  You may add a neutral color as well (though this will count as your 3).

Step 1: Add the elements Line must be used  Curved  Horizontal  Vertical  Diagonal  Straight Choose a type of line to be used (note you can create line without actually drawing a line)

Step 1: Add the elements How could you add texture to the design? Remember illusions? How could you design the shoe in a way that make the shoe seem to have a different texture? Need more information on texture? Look on pg. 367 of the BLS text

Step 1: Add the elements Form is both shape and space How can these be added to your design? Could you create a pattern?

Remember All elements must be used You must supply an examination of the element and why you used it in that way

Step 2: Plan the drawing What will the shoe look like? Think of the top, sides and bottom Describe what you would want the shoes to look like. Sides usually show the most detail. Draw a rough drawing of a side of a shoe. Then add your design.

Step 3: Peer Review (2 reviews) Have a peer look over your design They should check for all elements Then give a recommendation on how to improve the design They should also praise 2 aspects of your design Write down their recommendation and their praises about your design on your paper. Make a note on who did your peer review.

Step 4 Complete your design Color the design on the coloring page.
