PTF (C. Loomis), July 6, 2004 - 2 Contents Project Technical Forum Mandate Members Requirements Services External Collaboration Issues

PTF (C. Loomis), July 6, 2004 - 3 PTF Mandate Requirements collect, manage, prioritize Service APIs control changes promote common solutions External Collaboration other grid projects standards bodies Merge requirements and use cases from the application, security, and operations groups. Manage the evolution of the requirements and use cases. Prioritize the requirements and verify if (and how) the defined use cases are satisfied by the EGEE architectural design. Review the grid service specifications and control changes to those specifications and external interfaces. See and promote common solutions where commonalities exist in the middleware or application domains. Promote convergence with other grid projects by incorporating requirements from external projects using (or hoping to use) EGEE software by discussing the EGEE design with other projects.

Loomis) Requirements (All Activities) Services (Middleware, Security, Network Services) Mailing List Open registration; must be member to post. project-egee-ptf@cern.ch Agenda & Minutes http://agenda.cern.ch/fullAgenda.php?ida=a042424

PTF (C. Loomis), July 6, 2004 - 6 Services Control Changes External interfaces only! Implementation details left to developers. Close collaboration with JRA1 design team. Promote Common Solutions Common implementations of similar services. Identical interfaces where possible: Resource Broker Computing Element

PTF (C. Loomis), July 6, 2004 - 7 Services Discussion Interface Descriptions WSDL WS-I compliance Strong preference for thin clients. Individual Services Security Services: trade-off between usability/security Network Services: bandwidth alloc./reservation Core middleware GAS controversial: direct services access, VO-customized,... Questions on details of replica/metadata mgt.

PTF (C. Loomis), July 6, 2004 - 8 Requirements Collect Use existing documents when possible New documents from EGEE activities Add requirements for any identified gaps Manage Lifecycle (accepted, satisfied in design, implementation...) Evaluate release wrt requirements http://egee-na4.ct.infn.it/requirements/ Prioritize Global prioritization as guide for developers Course granularity (critical,..., not wanted) Dialog between developers, operators and users!

PTF (C. Loomis), July 6, 2004 - 9 External Collaboration Other Grid Projects National grids Other European/international projects Standards Bodies OASIS (Web services, WSRF) IETF GGF Main thrust after 1 st EGEE release. Follow developments to avoid unnecessarily going in orthogonal direction.
