There are laws that govern corporate conduct Business Practices Act Consumer Protection Art Environmental regulations and other laws Penalties Companies who violate laws or regulations may have to pay fines The individuals responsible may face prison time Companies can be sued by individuals or other companies

4 What if your company is unethical? Bad publicity may hurt sales People may boycott your company Can take years to rebuild your image Your competitors may overtake you Public opinion Laws may change that your competitors already meet but you do not, causing you to fall further behind
