1 BODY SYSTEMS

2 Nervous System Major Organs:
Brain, spinal cord, nerves, sense organs, receptors Function: Controls and coordinates body movements and senses; controls consciousness and creativity; helps monitor and maintain other body systems Connection to other Systems: ALL other body systems because it sends electrical signals which control their functions.

3 Skeletal Major Organs: Bones Function:
Provides structure; supports and protects internal organs Connections to other Systems: Muscular System, Nervous System, Circulatory System

4 Muscular Major Organs: Muscles (skeletal, cardiac, and smooth)
Function: Provides structure; supports and moves trunk and limbs Connection to other Systems: Skeletal System, Circulatory System, & Nervous System.

5 Digestive Major Organs:
Mouth, esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, small and large intestines Function: Stores and digests food; absorbs nutrients; eliminates wastes Connection to other Systems: Circulatory System, Excretory System & Nervous System.

6 Digestive Path of Food: MOUTH ESOUAGHUS STOMACH SMALL INTESTINE
LARGER INTESTINE ANUS

7 Circulatory Major Organs: Heart, blood vessels, blood Function:
Transport nutrients and wastes to and from all body tissues Connection to other Systems: ALL other body systems!

8 Heart to the body to the heart to lungs
Circulatory Path of Blood: Heart to the body to the heart to lungs

9 Respiratory Function:
Carries air into and out of lungs, (gases:oxygen and carbon dioxide) Major Organs: Air passages, lungs Connection to other Systems: ALL because it supplies the body with oxygen and takes out carbon dioxide

10 Carbon Dioxide (CO2) OUT
Respiratory Exchange of Gases: Oxygen (O2)IN Carbon Dioxide (CO2) OUT

11 Urinary Major Organs: Kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra, Function:
Eliminates waste; maintains water and chemical balance Connection to other Systems: Circulatory system- clean blood, excretory system-eliminates waste

12 Excretory Systems Major Organs: kidneys, large intestines, lungs, skin
Function: To get rid of wastes that could harm the body Connection to other Systems: Respiratory system exhales waste gas, Integumentary system sweats of waste, Urinary system- liquid wastes are released in urine, Digestive system- large intestines release solid waste

13 Integumentary System Main Organs Skin, hair, nails Function:
The body's first line of defense. Keeps pathogens from entering the body. Connection to other Body System: Connected to immune system because to also help protect us

14 Immune Major Organs: Lymph nodes and vessels, white blood cells
Function: Provides protection against infection and disease Connection to other Systems: Circulatory System, Digestive System, Urinary/Excretory System & Nervous System.

15 Lymphatic System Main Organs: tonsils, thymus, spleen, lymph nodes
Functions: Transports lymph through the body. Lymph is a clear fluid that aids during infections Connections to Other Body Systems Immune system-protection Circulatory system- transport.

16 Endocrine Major Organs:
Glands (such as adrenal, thyroid, and pancreas), hypothalamus Function: Maintains homeostasis; regulates metabolism, water and mineral balance, growth and sexual development, and reproduction Connection to other Systems: ALL other body systems because it supplies the hormones that help them function.

17 Reproductive Major Organs:
Ovaries, uterus, mammary glands (females), testes (males) Function: Produces offspring Connection to other Systems: Nervous System, Circulatory System, & Endocrine System,
