2 Polar Vision Seeing Beyond Limits Polar Vision is a truly extraordinary and inspiring expedition, following in the tradition of great polar explorers such as Scott, Amundsen, and Shackleton Crossing Antarctica from the coast to the South Pole is considered one of the hardest expeditions, comparable to climbing Mount Everest or sailing solo around the world Alan Lock will be the first visually impaired person to complete this challenge Overview

3 Polar Vision Seeing Beyond Limits The Challenge Setting off on the two-month expedition in the Antarctic Spring, the team will start from the coast and will trek approximately 600 miles across the frozen Antarctica continent to the South Pole. The team will be pulling their food and equipment on polar sleds weighing up to 100 lbs.

In late 2003 Alan suffered the loss of much of his vision from a rare genetic eye disease. Despite this blow, Alan was determined to maintain his passion for sports and challenges, and in doing so hoped to support those who were in a similar, and often far worse situation. Since his sight loss Alan has worked on a number of major fundraising and awareness initiatives, most recent of which was a Guinness World Record - rowing the Atlantic Ocean which raised over $80,000. Alan currently is currently completing his MBA at UC Berkeley. The Team

7 Polar Vision Seeing Beyond Limits The Opportunity – Polar Vision and China We are looking for companies who may wish to partner with us to make this expedition a reality – in return we can offer: 1. Worldwide Brand Exposure 2. Demonstrate Products 3. Chinese Citizen Joining the Team Huge scope for highlighting a brand both in China, the USA and internationally, through a major media plan and a documentary. The expedition allows huge scope for the demonstration of products and services in a high profile, global event. This includes clothing, consumer electronics and telecoms.
