Students meeting the following minimum requirements are eligible for initiation into the TOME Honor Society at TomeCon each spring: Currently in grades 11 or 12. Accrued 30 or more points on the Tau Omicron Mu Epsilon Points Sheet by the spring deadline. Unweighted GPA at time of spring deadline is 3.5 or higher. TOME Honor Society Initiates will be recognized at TomeCon and will receive a medal that can be worn at graduation if their school allows.

6 READING BOWL The Tome Society Reading Bowl Competition is a digital competition in which students are tested on the content of It List Books (20 books). Each chapter can recruit up to 15 students to compete on their Reading Bowl Team. Advisers should register their teams by October 1st each year. All team members must also be dues paid chapter members. Registration fees are submitted with the Annual Chapter Application.

7 Teams will take 3 online exams consisting of multiple choice questions quizzing student knowledge of It List or Jr It List book content. In each round, teams may test up to 15 students; teams are not required to test all students in every round. The average team score from each test will be used to determine current standings. The top 4 teams from each state at the Jr Tome and Tome Society levels will advance to the final, in person quiz-bowl style competition at each State Conference (as of 2015-2016 Georgia will be the only state with an in-person competition).

8 Reading Bowl exams will take place during 3 different testing windows. Each exam will consist of 10 questions per book. High school teams will test over 6-7 books at a time. Elementary and middle school teams will test over 3-4 books at a time. Students will have 60 minutes to complete the exam. Teams will have a testing window of 6-7 school days for each exam. During the assigned week advisers should schedule a date and time for the team to meet and take the test. All team members DO NOT have to take each exam, but teams should meet as a group to test. Students will take the test individually and may not consult each other or other resources during the test.
