2 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens can help you: Get control of your life Improve your relationship with your friends Make smarter decisions Get along better with your parents Overcome addiction Define your values and what matters most to you Get more done in less time Be happy Find balance between school, work, friends, etc.

3 Habit 1: Be Proactive Take Responsibility for your life What are some things that you do to demonstrate responsibility at home, at school, at practice?

4 Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind Define your missions and goals in life. Envision your life as an 8 th grader – what does it look like? Envision your life 3 years from now, 5 years from now, 10 years from now. Is it a clear picture? Do you know where you are headed and how you plan to get there?

5 Habit 3: Put first things first Prioritize and Organize Do you still have and USE your agenda book?

6 Habit 4: Think Win-Win Have an everyone can win attitude. Do you tend to look for (and then point out) the weakness in others? Think about how you treat not only your friends and classmates but also how you treat your siblings.

7 Habit 5: Seek first to understand, and then to be understood. Listen to people sincerely. Listen to the MESSAGE; avoid distractions. Do you listen in class? Do you listen to your parents? Are you a good listener to your friends?

8 Habit 6: Synergize - Teamwork Work together to achieve more Team player - or a ball hog? Cooperative group member – or bossy? How well do you synergize at home?

9 Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw Renew yourself regularly. Physical – what do you do to take care of your physical self? Nutrition and Fitness. Mental – how do you GROW your brain? Study? Read? Research? Social – quality friends who support your decisions and help you be your BEST self. Spiritual – What feeds your soul? What makes YOU feel good about YOU?

10 HOMEWORK - In the next 24 hours you need to focus on at least 2 of the 7 Habits. At the start of class tomorrow, be prepared to tell us what you did to work on your HABITS.
