2 The process of sin Taking –Insanity Yielding to sin creates chaos Desiring – Dissatisfaction Seeing turns into sin by our thinking Seeing - Attraction What we see creates an opportunity for sin

3 See, Desire, Take EVE – Genesis 3:6-7 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. ACHAN – Joshua 7:21 When I saw in the plunder a beautiful robe from Babylonia, two hundred shekels of silver and a bar of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. (Also Shechem, Judah, Samson,) ANYONE – James 1:14-15 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

4 The deceitfulness of sin Hebrews 3:12-13 – See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Numbers 32:23 –But if you fail to do this, you will be sinning against the L ORD ; and you may be sure that your sin will find you out.

5 Why godly people fail…or not 1. Am I committed to God’s word (or absorbing the world’s values)?  Psalm 119:9-11 –How can a young man stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. 2. Am I seeking joy in God’s presence (or ungodly pleasures)?  Psalm 16:8-11 –I keep my eyes always on the L ORD … I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices… You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.
