4. Chapters 1-5 Nate Tanner gets into a fight with a teacher and gets kicked out of boarding school. His sister picks him up at the train station. When he gets home he has a talk with his pa and then goes in his room and falls asleep. In the morning his pa gets a letter from Nate's old headmaster saying how he got kicked out of boarding school. Nate also gets his new state of the art bike taken away so he has nothing to do for the rest of the day.

5. Chapters 6-10 When Nate gets his bike back, he goes to the breaker and he sees a breaker boy. His name is Johnny. Johnny asks Nate if he can ride his bike. When Johnny brings back Nate’s bike, Johnny asks Nate “Do you want to play baseball with us?” Nate says “yes”. Johnny brings Nate to the baseball field. When they get there Johnny introduces the other breaker boys. Nate and Johnny go inside Johnny’s house to get a glove for baseball. And they play Baseball. After Nate goes back home and watches fireworks with his family.

6. Chapters 11-15 The next day, Nate goes back to Johnny’s house. Johnny introduces all the other family members. They go to the miner shop to buy some snacks and supplies. He goes back to the baseball field and plays baseball. He goes every day to the breaker baseball field. Nate lies to Johnny that his Dad is a clerk at an electric store. But Nate’s dad owns the Coal Mines. Nate has to go but Johnny asks Nate if he could play again tomorrow. Nate picks out some old clothes so he looks poor.

7. Chapters 16-20 Johnny invites Nate to swim with him but Nate's father says never go swimming without nobody watching. cause pa’s brother died from swimming when nobody was watching him. But Nate went swimming anyway. Johnny asks Nate can you come to my birthday party on Sunday. Nate says sure. When Nate gets home he is late for dinner again. In the morning Nate is babysitting martin and they get into a fight. After Nate is going to Johnny's birthday party. Nate meets Johnny’s parents. After Nate gives Johnny his present witch is a baseball glove after they eat cake and play baseball.

8. Chapters 21-30 Nate goes to Johnny’s house to watch them take a bath. When Nate gets home, he gets an A on his test. Pa brings Nate to the breaker and asks Nate if he rather go to the shore or the Breaker Nate gets forced to go to the shore. When Nate gets back from the shore, he gets in a fight with Johnny, because he found out that Nate is the son of the owner from the coalmine. After fighting they became Blood Brothers. After that, they play Baseball. Johnny and the other Breaker boys plan to shut down the Breaker. Nate wants to work in the Breaker. Nate changes clothes with another Breaker Boy. Nate works a day in the Breaker.

9. Chapters 31-40 Johnny congratulates Nate for working in the breaker. Patrick sneaks Nate in the house without Pa knowing. Then he takes a bath. Mary helped Nate clean up and then he goes to bed. Pa goes into Nate’s bedroom and Nate says he is sick. Nate hid his fingers because he had red top. Lucy wants Nate to look after Martin. Johnny tells Nate that they shut down the breaker. Nate told Martin to keep it a secret, but Martin told Anna. Nate is in trouble. Fred told Nate about the new tax foreign workers have to pay. After Nate went back to his room and when he got there, Fred was in there. Nate looked at Fred and he was holding his box of soldiers. Nate went to the family meeting at grandpa’s house. Nate asked if you can treat the miners better. His grandpa got super mad. Nate said what he did. Pa told Nate to never leave the house or yard again.

10. The End A big fight happens in down town. The marchers and the deputies were fighting. Nate gets sent to Boarding school.
