4 Governor’s Round Table Your Team: District Directors 42nd Biennial ConventionSoroptimist International of the Americas  Serve effectively as a communication link between the region board and club presidents  Can reinforce messages and be the direct contact for questions  Empower them to work with the region’s committee chairs  Expect them to keep in constant communication with you regarding issues within district

5 Governor’s Round Table Your Team: Governor-elect 42nd Biennial ConventionSoroptimist International of the Americas  Review your region’s job description for Governor- elect to ensure they have specific responsibilities.  Consider appointing them as a Region Chair of an area of particular concern to you.  Review with them your expectations in achieving success with the strategic plan.  Hold them accountable for their assignments.

6 Governor’s Round Table Your Team: Secretary & Treasurer 42nd Biennial ConventionSoroptimist International of the Americas  Ensure clear communication and understanding of your expectations with both.  Empower them to work directly with federation staff as needed.  Retain oversight but don’t tell them how to do their job.

7 Governor’s Round Table Region Chairs: Program, Membership Fundraising & Public Awareness 42nd Biennial ConventionSoroptimist International of the Americas  Responsible for promoting the specific objectives of the SIA strategic plan and region strategic plan to clubs & members  Goals for each Chair are specific to the function of the committee  Communicate with SIA HQ Staff, Region Governor and Board, and other Region Chairs in Federation  Ensure they work with region chairs  Perform other duties as assigned

8 Governor’s Round Table42nd Biennial ConventionSoroptimist International of the Americas  Align the SI theme of education and leadership to all projects  Expected to increase participation in Women’s Opportunity Awards  Expected to encourage and raise awareness for sustainable mission focused projects at region/district meetings; region newsletters; and in direct communication with clubs  Work with SIA staff to evaluate programs Region Chair: Program

9 Governor’s Round Table Program Chair  May be asked by Governors to:  Promote Soroptimists Celebrating Success!  Prepare the entry for Region Program Award  Monitor region website to ensure accurate program information  Assist region sub-committee chairs – WOA, VRA  Provide program data to SI database for Global Impact Report 42nd Biennial ConventionSoroptimist International of the Americas

10 Governor’s Round Table Region Chair: Membership  Encourage members to sign up for Live Your Dream community  Facilitate prospective member forms from SIA to local club and follow-up  Assist with new club development  Serve as a resource for newly chartered clubs  Counsel and assist low membership clubs  Review and provide feedback on SIA membership tools, materials and criteria 42nd Biennial ConventionSoroptimist International of the Americas

11 Governor’s Round Table Membership Chair  May be asked by the Governor to:  Conduct membership workshops at region meetings  Report on activities, accomplishments and successes related to membership in newsletters  Prepare membership entry for Region Award  Be a resource for clubs in membership recruitment and retention  Promote sign up for Live Your Dreams website 42nd Biennial ConventionSoroptimist International of the Americas

12 Governor’s Round Table Region Chair: Fundraising  Promote SIA fundraising programs  Solicit club and individual contributions to support SIA Programs.  Monitor region’s participation in Annual Club Giving Campaign, Laurel Society, and Laurel Legacy/Planned Giving activities.  Understand and raise awareness of how fundraising dollars are used by SIA. 42nd Biennial ConventionSoroptimist International of the Americas

13 Governor’s Round Table Fundraising Chair  May be asked by the Governor to:  Ensure 100% participation of clubs in Club Giving  Redirect clubs’ funds raised to Soroptimist cause and mission  Distribute fundraising information provided by SIA within region  Provide workshops at region meetings on fundraising  Prepare the fundraising entry for the Region Awards 42nd Biennial ConventionSoroptimist International of the Americas

14 Governor’s Round Table Region Chair: Public Awareness  Expected to counsel and assist regions and clubs with their public relations efforts  Promote the use of SIA resources, including PRofile in Best for Women magazine, and sample materials 42nd Biennial ConventionSoroptimist International of the Americas

15 Governor’s Round Table Public Awareness Chair  May be asked by the Governor to:  Conduct workshops or make presentations at region meetings about ways to promote Soroptimist and gain media attention  Encourage clubs to report on mission-focused programs to SIA  Prepare the public awareness entry for Region Awards  Promote Region Conference to local media 42nd Biennial ConventionSoroptimist International of the Americas

16 Governor’s Round Table Your Team: Parliamentarian  Enables the smooth conduct of business  Ensures an orderly process  Is a Governor’s best friend when the voting body needs guidance or there is disagreement on procedural matters 42nd Biennial ConventionSoroptimist International of the Americas
