When we talk about a global issue we are usually referring to something that affects a number of countries and populations. It is an issue that impacts upon or is important to the global community,

4. Newspaper Hunt In your groups, read through your newspaper
Identify and record any world issues, where they are located, and what (if any) organizations are involved.
Students with Smartphones/Tablets/iPod Touch’s: look on the internet to find other examples of world issues (check out Huffington Post, BBC)
Each group should find at least 4 issues
When finished, send a group member to bring your information to the teacher

7. Definitions
NGO: Any international organization that is not under the authority of any government and members work together to address various global issues.
IGO: An organization initiated and directed by national governments. Countries within these organizations cooperate to address various global issues
