2 It’s a girl! Laura was born February 1867 in Pepin, Wisconsin with the name of Laura Elizabeth Ingalls.

3 Pack up your bags! Her family moved to South Dakota when she was 7 in 1874 and then moved again to Missouri in 1880.

4 Lets learn! She got her teacher’s certificate on December 1882.

5 Here comes the bride! Married Almanzo James Wilder August 25, 1885 and changed her name to Laura Ingalls Wilder.

6 It’s a girl…again! She gave birth to Rose Wilder on December 5, 1886.

7 Pack up! She and her new family moved to San Francisco in 1915.

8 Let’s get writing! Didn’t write Little House In The Big Woods until It was published when she was 65 and it was released 1932.

10 Wow! In 1954 the American Library Association established the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award in her honor. It is now given every five years to an author who makes a substantial contribution to children’s literature.

11 So Sad Laura died in February 1957 in Mansfield, Missouri because of a stroke.

12 Where’s the Remote? In 1974, people continued to read and love her books so much, they made them into movies.

13 You are old! If she were still alive she would be 141 this year.
