6 THE VALUE OF MAPS Maps are a way to record and keep track of information. Maps help us recognize spatial distribution and visualize patterns. Maps allow us to convey information and findings that are difficult to express verbally.

Go to page 6 in your text. – With a neighbor, identify what you think is important to include on a map. – You’ll share with the class in 2 minutes. – Now, identify what type of map projection you think is best.
