12 Programs Well Known For UC Santa Barbara has a reputation as a world-class research university Programs known for are Business Managerial, Communication Studies, International Global Studies, Psychology, and Sociology.

The only art related programs offered at this school are the following: UC Santa Barbara is not well known for art programs.

14 UC Santa Barbara’s mascot is the Gaucho The gaucho is known to be a liberty-lover who combines the qualities of both Mexican and Indian heritages. UCSB adopted the Gauchos nickname in 1936, replacing its original nickname, the Roadrunners. The traditional gaucho is sort of like the North American "cowboy". The Santa Barbara University of California was established in Santa Barbara on July 1, 1944
