Detail of the 4 Key Stages Stage 1: Initial Plan Preparation  Preparatory Position Papers  Statement of Community Involvement  Timetable  Preferred Options Paper Stage 2: Plan Strategy  Draft Plan Strategy  Representations and Public Examination  Adoption of Plan Strategy Stage 3: Local Policies Plan  Draft Local Policies Plan  Representations and Public Examination  Adoption of Local Policies Plan Stage 4: Monitoring and Review  At least every 5 years from adoption of LDP

6. Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) A Statement of Community Involvement Sets out: A statement of the Council’s policy for involving the community in development proposals How the community will be engaged in the preparation of the new Local Development Plan and in determining planning applications and enforcement

7. Timetable Following publication of the final SCI, the Council must prepare a Timetable : sets out the timeframe for each stage of the Plan agree timescales for independent examination with Planning Appeals Commission get approval from the Department of Environment for the timetable

8. Preferred Options Paper This is first stage of consulting on the Local Development Plan The Preferred options paper will set out a series of options for dealing with key issues in the plan area; and Include the Council’s preferred option based on evidence gathered and evaluation

10. Community Planning Link with Community Planning The new Local Development Plan will include a spatial land use reflection of the Council’s Community Plan provide a vision of how places should change and what they will be like in the future consider early informal community engagement and visioning jointly for the community plan and LDP
