7 Thinkfinity Contest The Thinkfinity Teacher Excellence Award recognizes Virginia teachers who are integrating Thinkfinity resources into their classroom. Eight teachers, one from each of the Superintendents' Study Regions, will be chosen for an award and one teacher from those eight will be named the Virginia Thinkfinity Teacher of the Year. The competition is sponsored through a grant from the Verizon Foundation. Teachers may be nominated by their instructional technology resource teacher (ITRT) or librarian and school principal by May 30, 2011. Teachers must be a full- time teacher in a K-12 public or private Virginia school. Nominees must have: a recommendation form from an ITRT or librarian AND principal eight lesson plans which use Thinkfinity resources a five- to ten-minute digital video that demonstrates the teacher in the classroom during one of the lessons submitted Entries will be judged by a panel of educators and Thinkfinity experts. All entrants will receive certificates of participation. Winners will be announced in July and an awards event will be held in late summer. The eight regional winners will receive a $1,000 stipend to attend and present at a local, state, or national conference and an Apple iPad. The overall Virginia Thinkfinity Teacher of the Year will receive an additional $1,000 cash award.
