3 Night  From my Reader’s Log:  “The Germans have no feelings at all. What would give them the right to abuse and take the lives of thousands of Jews. “  “I don’t know what I would do if I seen a Nazi showing up in my town if I was a Jew living in this period of time.”  “I would have felt the same as everyone else [in the concentration camp] on the last day of the year.”  “The end [of the book] was what I was looking forward to. But maybe it couldn’t have been any better.”  Night was an interesting but yet, sometimes disturbing book about the deadly Holocaust. Reading it together at some points and having class discussions helped me stay on track and understand some parts that were confusing. Night had an effect on me that made me realize that threat of genocide is still present. GENOCIDE IN DARFUR Webquest

4 The Odyssey  Myth Project: waiting on Keith…  Reader’s Logs:  “Odysseus is a confusing man because he cheats on his wife, yet he wants to return home to see her…”  “The Suitors deserved exactly what they got, especially the leader.”  “Finally the end of the book. I thought it would have been a little more exciting or dramatic.”  The Odyssey was a good book when you could understand it. I had to read part of the book on my own time and therefore did terrible on the next quiz. Reading the book in class helped me, and I’m sure many other students as well. I enjoyed most of the book, especially the end. Reading the Odyssey definitely helped to increase my level of reading.

5 Sherlock Holmes  Virtual Tour Virtual Tour  Dartmoor Project  Mystery stories are probably the only type of story that I would read. Stories involving mysteries add suspense and tension which overall adds more excitement and interest to a story. I also like to guess at “who dun it” or try and solve the mystery before the characters in the book do for me. I also like how the mind of an intelligent person like Sherlock Holmes works. A modern character to relate Holmes to would be “The Mentalist,” a

6 The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet  This story was probably not my favorite because it was an extremely hard play to read and understand. I am glad we read it in class and gave out parts so it was somewhat easier to comprehend. Overall, I am glad I did get to read it because it has improved my reading and writing skills.  Poster  Sonnet  There could be so many people to blame for the tragedy of this story. However, I would blame the Friar even though he didn’t purposely want to kill anyone. He was trying to solve the feuding, which he did, but not in the way he intended. If the Friar would have just told the parents of the two families then perhaps there may have been no killing.

9 Research Paper  The research paper we that I wrote this year about Walter Elias Disney was very informational and taught me how to cite sources both in text and on the Works Cited page. I also learned not to use contractions in an essay.
