The Keystone Pipeline is a pipeline system to transport synthetic crude oil and diluted bitumen ("dilbit") from the Athabasca Oil Sands in northeastern Alberta, Canada to numerous destinations in the United States. Their destinations include refineries in Illinois, Cushing oil distribution hub in Oklahoma, and proposed connections to refineries along the Gulf Coast of Texas. The initial capacity of Keystone Pipeline is 435,000 barrels per day which will be increased up to 5. The original Keystone Pipeline cost US$5.2 billion with the Keystone XL expansion slated to cost approximately US$7 billion. The Keystone XL is expected to be completed by 2012–2013.

Paragrapgh-2,3,4,5,6 TransCanada promises to keep the environment safe. They also promise to clean up any damage that may occur. They claim to realize the importance of the environment and native prairie. TransCanada says that if a spill were to happen, if would not be a big deal because it would be remote and they would clean up the spill. TransCanada Article

In this blog, it states that the want to build the Keystone pipeline is because of corporate greed. It also leads on to say that we’re progressing to become a broken civilization. “The Movement” group and Valparaiso University had to do a questionnaire for the government. One of the questions was about the amount jobs that are going to be created. Which is a lot, but once the pipeline is built, majority of the workers will be once again unemployed. The pipeline will increase climate changes and pollution in America. Green Peace Article

The initial capacity of Keystone Pipeline is 435,000 barrels per day which will be increased up to 590,000 barrels per day if the keystone pipeline is approved. The keystone xl pipeline will being traveling through the Ogallala aquifer, the water source for millions of Americans. A pipeline failure in this area would be devastating, contaminating over 5 billion gallons of fresh ground water. If this pipeline were to continue to leak it would have 590,000 barrels of oil leaking into our water supply PER DAY. New York Times Video

Article 2 & the video sources contradict with article 1. In article 1, TransCanada is supporting the keystone pipeline and in the other 2 sources, they are saying how badly it will affect the environment. These sources also look down upon the pipeline and do not want it built due to the possible harm & long term damages it can do to its surroundings. On the other hand, it will help the economy, give more job opportunities and make transporting oil a whole lot easier. If you had to decide whether they Keystone pipeline is going to be made, what would you choose?
