1 Social impacts of IT Mohammed Mustafa

2 Local community Developments in IT have led to people shopping online and taking away the community spirit. For example when people start to shop online shops start to lose business and the local area wont be as busy as it was. Also people will become less sociable with each other as they wont be face to face if they shop online. If after 10 years people carry on chatting to their friends through Facebook it will start to get boring and they would want to meet them face to face. This will be a disadvantage for the local community as they will be less sociable. An advantage for social networking is that you can get in contact with your friends easily and for free.

3 Availability of jobs Jobs have been affected by IT in different ways. For example companies use robots to do their work. This could be a disadvantage as people will start to lose their jobs as companies will not need them if they have robots doing the work. On the other hand more people with IT skills are needed in the job market. Another way IT has affected jobs is that employers now allow their employees to work at home. An advantage about this is that people can work at the times that they like and can spend time with family. However a disadvantage is that if the employer gets stuck he doesn't have anyone to help them.

4 Inequality in broadband access Some people do not have any broadband access in the area that they live in. With businesses trading online more and more these people will find it hard to buy things. Another problem with broadband is that people who have disabilities or don’t have any knowledge about computers will find it hard to shop online. These days more people are shopping online and people without local shops and no internet access are going to find it really hard to buy things. Customers these days shop more when they’re online than when they’re at a shop. The reason for this is because the quality is better and more cheaper. If things carry on like this people with no broadband access are going to find it hard.
