Creating Frequency Tables and putting the information into Graphs.
Miss Crawford asked 50 friends (25 boys and 25 girls) from when she started school in 1988 what their favourite toy was from a selection of 8 popular toys of the time. When we are collecting information and data about a particular topic, we need to do so in an organised way, so that we can later present it. (it wasnt that long ago!!!) Favourite Childrens Toys of the 1980s. The choices were as follows: Space hopper Jack s Marbles
ToyCare BearsHe-ManTransformersSpace Hopper JacksMarblesBMXLego Number of Children Frequency 1046723126 Each of the 50 people asked, chose from the list and a tally mark was used to represent their choice on the table below. When all the information has been collected the tallies are counted up and the frequency is entered beneath. The frequency in this case is how often a particular toy was chosen as favourite.
This information can now be used to construct a graph.
