Every theme defines two fonts—a heading font and a body text font. The default heading font is Cambria. The default body text font is Calibri. A serif font has decorative lines projecting from its characters. A sans serif font has no decorative lines projecting from its characters.

More than one character format can be applied to text. Apply character formatting using: Commands on the Ribbon Commands on the Mini toolbar Keyboard shortcuts. Character formatting can be applied to existing text or text to be keyed.

Select several options at one time. Click the Font Dialog Box Launcher to open the Font dialog box. Right-click selected text and click Font in the shortcut menu to display the Font dialog box. Press [Ctrl]+[D] to open the Font dialog box.

Press [F4] or [Ctrl]+[Y]. If you apply multiply formats using the Font dialog box, the Repeat command applies all formatting. If you apply several character formats using the Ribbon, the Repeat command applies only the last format.

Click the Format Painter button on the Home tab, Clipboard group. The mouse pointer changes to a paintbrush with an I-beam pointer. Select the text to be formatted. Double-click the Format Painter button to copy formatting to more than one location.

Change case using keyboard shortcuts. [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[A] [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[K] [Shift]+[F3] Click the Change Case drop-down arrow on the Ribbon and select one of the following options: Sentence case Lowercase Uppercase Capitalize Each Word Toggle case

Text Highlight Color button is located on the Font group. Mouse pointer changes shape. Select text to highlight. Select None from the Text Highlight Color drop- down list to remove the highlight format from text.

The Font dialog box also has settings for underline styles, font and underline colors, effects, and spacing A hyperlink often appears as blue underlined text you click to open a software feature or to go to an e-mail or a Web address Keyboard shortcuts are available for some underline styles and font effects A shortcut menu shows a list of commands relevant to a particular item. To display a shortcut menu, point to the item and right-click Use F4 or Ctrl+Y to repeat character formatting
