2 Network Engineering - Job Description Network engineers are responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting computer communication within companies and businesses. There are several different types of Networking Engineering, such as a Local Area Network (LAN) engineer, Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) engineer, Wide Area Network (WAN) engineer, and a Global Area Network (GAN) engineer. Network engineers are responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting computer communication within companies and businesses.

3 Networking Engineering - Requirements Although Network Engineering is open to all graduates, if you have a degree in either; Computer Science, Electronical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or in Computer Software, it will aid you in securing a role in that job. It may also be preferable if the person applying for the job has a diploma in relevant subjects, such as Computer Science or Electrical engineering. As with most jobs, having any experience with working as part of a team will be beneficial. You would also need certain knowledge and characteristics, such as organisational skills, team working skills, problem-solving skills, analysing skills, communication skills and knowledge of your employer’s business and technological needs.

4 Network Engineering – Why it is important Network engineers are important as they are responsible for maintaining, installing and supporting computer communication within businesses. Without them, the essential computer communication within companies would collapse, and all the businesses that depend upon them would be crippled.

6 Webmaster – Job Description Webmasters are people who create interesting content and images for websites to encourage web users to return to that website and browse it frequently. Webmasters sometimes work with artists, writers and graphic designers in order to create a website that is intriguing to a web surfer. They also ensure that the website is operating and constantly looking after it’s technical needs. There are many different options for a Webmaster seeking work as they can work for one company, ensuring that the site is interesting and running smoothly, they can also work for companies that design websites for other companies to use. Another option for Webmasters is that they can work for companies who do not need full time employees, drifting between companies to develop and maintain their website.

7 Webmaster – Job Requirements The ideal qualification for Webmasters would be a degree in Web Design, though this is mainly the option taken by younger people, as there are alternate routes for careers in web design for adults. For example, there are adult education programs that have evening classes for adults interested in learning about web design, these do not lead to degrees however. It would be a good idea for anyone wanting be a webmaster to get an internship in a job that features web design as they provide experience of the real world and will help in seeking out future jobs.

10 Network Administrator – Job Description Network Administrator’s connect different devices to form efficient and quick networks. They maintain these links and solve any problems that may happen within these networks. There are a fair parts of the job for a Network Administrator such as being able to assemble new systems, maintaining software and hardware and being able to upgrade software and hardware that is out of date. Other things that are typically required of someone wishing to work in a Networking administrative position can be things such as being able to budget for new hardware or being able to consult with potential clients either in person or over the phone. Network Administrator’s can find work with almost any company as almost all companies now rely heavily on computers.

Prior knowledge or different qualifications such as a Microsoft certified system engineer status. There are also key characteristics for a Network Administrator to have such as patience and inter-personal skills when dealing with clients. Team working skills are also a desired characteristic when applying for this job as it may be required to work as part of a team in installing a large scale network.

14 Programmer – Job Description Programmer’s jobs are usually project-based, as they’ll be working with their employer to understand the problem they have and the outcome that is expected to happen. They will then turn these results into detailed specifications. Once the specifications are approved, the programmer can then start to write the code and test the system in order to make sure the error doesn’t occur again.

15 Programmer – Job Requirements Most programmers are required to have a knowledge of circuit boards, processors etc. in the form of Computers and Electronics. They also need to know Mathematics very well in the form of algebra and how to apply them in coding. English Language is also a requirement as an understanding of it is known to help when composing code. Candidates may also benefit from obtaining a qualification in Design as a prior knowledge of technical plans may be beneficial in the job role. Most jobs in Programming require between two to four years of either work-related skill, or a four year education in the form of a bachelor’s degree. Some skills needed for programming feature the ability to do complex problem-solving so the candidate can develop solutions. Being an active learner would also help as technology constantly updates and an ability to keep up with it is greatly beneficial.

16 Programmer – Why they’re important Programmers are very important to any industry focused around I.T as they are ably to help diagnose and fix problems that the company has within it’s systems. They also develop many different forms of software, ranging from computer programs to video games, which are all the rage in modern society.

They’re also more likely to be hired if they have at least 5 years experience. It also helps to be up to date knowledge on current software. Being an independent thinker helps a candidate as they’ll need little supervision as well as team working skills, which are essential in almost every business. The ability to multitask also helps, as well as; good verbal and written communication skills and a good set of mathematical skills.

By gathering information from clients and giving the feedback to a company when designing the product to suit the customer’s needs, they can generate a large amount of income for a business.

22 IT Sales Professional – Job Description There are 3 main areas that an IT Sales Professional works in. These three areas are all sub-divisions of pre-sales, sales and post-sales support of hardware/software. The first area of an IT Sales Professional’s job is supporting pre-sales of hardware/software by giving away information about the technical specifications of the hardware/software.
