5. Area, Birth and looks First, let’s start off with area and birth. Babies are born in Brazil and they stay there for the rest of there life. A mom Black Caiman lays to about 50 to 60 eggs. 6. Extinction! Sadly, Black Caimans are being killed for their shiny skin to make leather products. It’s been illegal to hunt black caimans for a couple of years, but that hasn’t stopped poachers from stealing their leather skin! Something sad to know is that the black caiman species has dropped by 99% in the 20 th century. That means one percent of the black caiman population are left.
