Thought Process Sibelius - proactive instead of reactive (in Finale you put in tuplets after you input the notes, in Sibelius you do it before)

Sibelius Share Googledoc to share the tricks we discover, helpful hints, and questions

Version 6 Improvements

Worksheets

REALLY important shortcuts Note input: “N” - type n to turn the note input pointer on or off Add interval above or below (1-9 or Shift 1-9) Create bar at end (CTRL + B) Delete a Bar (CTRL click 1st bar, shift click last bar, hit delete) Cres/decres (H/shift H) Triplet (Ctrl 3) Slur - (select note and then hit “S”, press space bar to extend)

More Shortcuts/Improvements

Handbook Projects Beginners- follow Sibelius tutorials starting with #1(including setting up staves, time signatures, and key signatures) Advanced beginners - follow Sibelius tutorials starting with #2 (creating chords, using repeat options, using alphabetical note entry) Intermediates - Sibelius tutorial #4 (flex time entry - pending keyboard)

HOW TO Op. Grant? 1.Open Sibelius 2.Go to the “scanner” which will open photoscore lite 3.Open photoscore lite and select “Open PDF” (you will need to scan in music using a xerox machine or other scanner. There is a glich with photoscore reading the music because of a program called ghostwriter which we need to have installed and Albert is working on it.)

More Op. Grant? 5. Open the “Here Comes the Sun” pdf 6.Ask Photoscore to read each page of “Here Comes the Sun”. 7.By viewing the original, try to correct any mistakes in the music that Photoscore did not read correctly 8.Import the photoscore pdf into sibelius by going to file and then “send to” 9. Choose how you would like to view it

More Op. Grant 10.Hit Command A to select all and Command C to Copy 11.Go to File then NEW to create an ew score that you will be arranging your new version in. 12.Select the instruments you would like in your new arrangement (select key, time, etc.) 13. Highlight the first measure and go to Create then Arrange. It will give you options to format the arrangement.

Op. Grant In order to do our new arrangement, we need to do a few measures at a time to make sure it transfers the way we want it to.
