2 Transparency Task Force (TTF) Remit Transparency Task Force 1Improve the transparency, clarity, and public understanding of medical education and its outcomes within and outside the European Union; 2 Hold workshops on the Bologna Process; 3 Provide help and advice to the European Commission, the European University Association (EUA) and medical schools in the EU and beyond on the structures of medical education.

4 What is MedEdCentral? Transparency Task Force MedEdCentral is an information resource in medical education; Its aim is to encourage innovation and best practice in medical education; MedEdCentral addresses the different phases of medical education – undergraduate, postgraduate and CPD; MedEdCentral is a collaborative initiative involving a network of users and stakeholders.

6 Key principles for MedEdCentral (1) Transparency Task Force 1The provision of information and examples of good practice will facilitate improvements in medical education across Europe and encourage transnational harmonisation; 2Traditional, established and well-tested approaches and concepts eg PBL, have a contribution to make in medical education alongside newer approaches and developments, eg OBE and e-learning; 3 MedEdCentral is a living information source with entries enriched by comments and additional examples from stakeholders.

8 Key principles (2) Transparency Task Force 4MedEdCentral is an open-source database with attributed online contributions; 5 Speed and ease of access by stakeholders is important; 6 The approach adopted should not be resource intensive; 7 The language of the resource is in first instance English.

9 MedEdCentral entries (1) Transparency Task Force MedEdCentral includes information on: key topics and concepts in medical education who is doing what in medical education in Europe and elsewhere – institutions, medical schools, individuals key reports and publications

10 MedEdCentral entries (2) Transparency Task Force outputs from other Task Forces information about the Bologna Process links to other websites Established databases will be incorporated where appropriate

11 Further actions Transparency Task Force 1Agree principles and features 2Develop further and pilot the MedEdCentral platform 3Develop infrastructure including editors and ‘champions’ among the stakeholders 4Publicise MedEdCentral and encourage contributions 5Liaise with other Task Forces
