2 Objective ► Students will use reading strategies, including predict, in order to complete a graphic organizer. ► Students will use apply reading strategies appropriate to the text in order to identify conflict for a graphic organizer. ► Students will explain the effectiveness of stylistic elements that communicate an author’s purpose in order to answer a BCR.

5 BCR: TMDG Write an explanation that tells how Rainsford’s views on hunting have been changed by one of his last encounters with Ivan and Zaroff. Include details and examples from the text to support your explanation.

6 Length is not an issue!!! To properly answer a BCR at least a paragraph is necessary. Do not try to answer a BCR in one or two sentences, a proper response will have a minimum of 3 sentences.

7 ACE your answer! When answering a BCR you should think of the acronym ACE.  A – Answer the question  C – Cite an example  E – Explain your answer with details from the story

8 ACE  The first step in answering your BCR is to answer the question directly. (Answer)  Next, look for and pull some support from the story that you have read. (Cite)  Finally explain the answer you have given. (Explain)
