CCRS – translate among multiple representations of equations and relationships Algebra II – relate representations of quadratic functions, such as algebraic, tabular, graphical, and verbal descriptions Algebra I – represent relationships among quantities using concrete models, tables, graphs, diagrams, verbal descriptions, equations, and inequalities
17
Grade 8 – generate a different representation of data given another representation of data (such as a table, graph, equation, or verbal description) Grade 7 – use words and symbols to describe the relationship between the terms in an arithmetic sequence (with a constant rate of change) and their positions in the sequence. Grade 6 – use tables and symbols to represent and describe proportional and other relationships such as those involving conversions, arithmetic sequences (with a constant rate of change), perimeter and area

Grades 6, 7, and 8 ◦ Will have 4 griddable questions ◦ Will use same grid as TAKS Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II ◦ Will have 5 griddable questions ◦ Will use a new grid
19
In addition to the total number of questions listed in the test blueprint, the first spring administration of each STAAR mathematics assessment will include 8 field-test questions. 7 multiple-choice questions 1 griddable question The 8 field-test questions do not count toward the student’s score.
20
Will the EOC count? ◦ Yes, the EOC counts toward graduation. ◦ Additionally, students graduating under the RHSP must achieve Level II: Satisfactory Academic Performance on the Algebra II and English III assessments in order to receive a diploma Students graduating under the DAP must meet Level III: Advanced Academic Performance, the postsecondary-readiness performance standard, on the Algebra II and English III assessments

BE SURE TO ADMINISTER A FINAL EXAM!! Secondary Guidelines – Final Exams (this year) o 9 weeks – 20% o 6 weeks – 25%

The SBOE has given preliminary approval to the new TEKS for mathematics (some changes have been made to the previous draft and an update is due out soon). Final approval is expected in April 2012. However, the implementation of the new TEKS will be delayed to coincide with the recently published materials adoption timeline. It is expected that due to this delay, TEA Student Assessment will now have time to develop STAAR items aligned to the new TEKS in time for the 2015 (gr. 3 – 8) and 2016 (gr. 9 – 12) STAAR administrations.implementation of the new TEKS will be delayed
