5.  While sailing, Ian was appalled by the amount of rubbish in the world's oceans. He committed himself to do something about it, starting in Sydney Harbour.  40,000 volunteers turned out to lend a hand to clean up. Later, Ian’s idea became “Clean Up the World” and has spread to many countries.

6.  Sonia called on her network of friends to start knitting squares which could then be sewn together to produce blankets for people in war zones and natural disaster zones.  In 2011, 30 000 volunteers around Australia knit and sew with the aim of helping people in need... and some 255,322 wraps have now been shipped all over Australia and around the globe.

7.  A group of young men from Adelaide decided to raise money and raise awareness about men’s health issues  Each November, participating men grow a moustache and also encourage their friends to go to the doctor for health check ups  Mo bros and sistas raised $72 million in 2010
