Process GPS Value & Priority Statement Revision

SEEKING STRATEGIES

Our rationale for today’s processes Send out the best most well thought through product Want the public to understand what each of the priorities means, thus we’ve changed the headings and built out a different approach Find and share out the core for feedback, knowing that you’ll be going back out to explore other strategies through additional research and expert interviews Your work has been given back to you to analyze and Bring a more rigorous lens to your work.

The task: is: To analyze and rationalize the suggested strategies is not: A brainstorming activity today

Strategies for Success – Priority Package should: Strengthen our foundation for today – Address identified achievement/opportunity gaps & the lack of postsecondary success Build for tomorrow – Ensure students have 21 st Cent. skills for future success in life & career

Filtering Strategies 1. Muddy vs. Clear Is the action clear and specific? Do you understand the content?

Filtering Strategies 2. Group Agreement Individuals share their selections Group discussion

TASK #1 – SEEKING STRATEGIES

Handouts/Directions 1.Individual read & filter (10 min) – Circle strategies that are clear and specific and you want to move forward 2.Share out strategies that you have circled (1 min/person) – Facilitator moves recommended strategy slip of paper to chart 3.Discuss (10 min) 4.Dot test – Which of these strategies will create the greatest impact? Keep in mind closing gaps and transformational. (3 min) 5.Discuss & decide the cutoff. Which should be included in prototype? Recommended cutoff is 1 dot or less are left out. (5 min) 6.Fist to Five vote as a group to support moving group of statements forward. Fist = “no vote” (is NOT a block) (3 min)

Fist to Five A fist means, “I vote NO." 1 finger means, “I’ll just barely go along.” or, “I don’t like this but it's not quite a no." or, “I think there is lots more work to do on this proposal.” In consensus this indicates standing aside, or not being in agreement but not blocking the consensus. 2 fingers means “I don’t much like this but I’ll go along.” 3 fingers means, “I’m in the middle somewhere. Like some of it, but not all.” 4 fingers means, “This is fine.” 5 fingers means, “I like this a lot, I think it’s the best possible decision.”

TASK #2 - ALIGNING TO OUTCOMES

Key Outcomes (15 min) 1.Individual’s answer question: Do key outcomes define the result of successful implementation of the strategies? 2.Share Out, Discuss, & Edit or Add – If No - edit or drop the outcome from this prototype. – If Yes – then look to add any outcomes that may be missing. 3.Fist to Five

GroupRoom Assessment Early Childhood Global Personalized Learning Professional Learning Resources

Gallery Walk (15 min) Familiarize yourself with other group’s work Sticky any clarifying questions
