1 2011 EOC PHYSICS Assessment (Field Test) Procedural Training

2 OPERATIONAL EOC & FIELD TESTING ZEOC Assessments will be administered both online and via a paper-based administration. ZHB 3, passed in 2009, authorizes TEA to collect data through the administration of EOCs in order to establish performance standards prior to the first high- stakes administrations in spring 2012. ZVMA selected to participate in the following: Z English I - April 6 & 7, 2011 - paper administration Z Day 1 - Writing Z Day 2 - Reading Z Physics - May 11, 2011 - paper administration Z Geometry - May 24, 2011 - online administration

3 ELIGIBILITY FOR EOC ASSESSMENTS Z Online - maximum number of students required to test - 350 Z Paper - all eligible students enrolled in the course are required to test Z Special Education. - all students who take the TAKS ZOral administration is not available for the English I EOC ZOral administration is available for Geometry and Physics ZStudents with accommodations that would invalidate the assessment are not required to participate ZARD committees are not required to convene to determine test placement at this time Z LEP - all students except first-year immigrants granted an exit level LEP postponement or LEP exemption from the 2011 spring TAKS

4 EOC RESULTS *There will be no “student results” because the passing standards have not been set. Districts will receive raw scores only, and not by individual student. *No performance results for students, campuses, districts, or the state will be provided for any EOC assessment.

5 Test Security & Confidentiality Requirements Z TEC, Chapter 39, Subchapter B ZEOC Assessments are secure including field tests. Z 19 TAC 101 ZALL test materials must be handled in strict accordance with the instructions contained in the test administrator manual. ZEach person with access to test materials must maintain and preserve the security and confidentiality of ALL tests. ZStudent information used or obtained in the administration of these assessments is confidential. ZEach person with access to student information must maintain and preserve the confidentiality of this information. ZA 2011 Oath of Test Security and Confidentiality for Test Administrators (General) has been signed and filed. Z All requirements apply. (active monitoring, range of penalties, obligation to report any suspected violations)

6 Test Security & Confidentiality Requirements UNAUTHORIZED VIEWING, DISCUSSION, DUPLICATION, OR SCORING OF SECURE TEST MATERIALS IS NOT PERMITTED AT ANY TIME.

7 ORAL ADMINISTRATION Z No person may record confidential test content, write notes, perform calculations, solve test items, or place any other marks in a test booklet Z Provide allowable accommodations and be aware of different levels of reading support ZNonverbal assistance may not be provided ZTest administrators should read sample items in the same manner as he/she would read test questions ZReading support includes test questions, answer choices, charts, tables, graphics, the state supplied mathematics or science charts, and allowable or approved supplemental aids ZTest administrators must not rephrase, clarify, or interpret any test content ZVoice inflection must be kept neutral (words that are boldfaced, italicized, or printed entirely in capital letters must be emphasized )

8 Required Material for Testing ZTwo #2 pencils with erasers per student ZOne test booklet per student ZOne answer document per student (Make sure each student receives the document with his or her name on it.) ZOne scientific or graphing calculator per student

9 Administration Directions 2011 Physics EOC Test Administration Directions Manual (pages 11 - 17) ZGive students all the time they need to respond to each test question. ZStudents must use a #2 pencil to mark their answer documents. ZStudents are not allowed to use scratch paper but instead write in their test booklets if necessary. ZRead aloud verbatim the material printed in bold type. ZYou may repeat the directions as many times as needed. ZThe information in italics is meant for the test administrator and should not be read aloud to the students.

10 Test Procedures for 5/11/2011 Z 8:00 A.M. - Pick up test material in N. L. Espinoza’s Office ( Verify & Initial the “OUT” box of the Materials Control Form) - Keep testing Material secure at ALL times Z Seating chart must be completed Z 8:15 - 8:25 A.M. - students are reporting to the testing room Z 8:25 - 8:35 A.M. Z Allow students to go to the restroom Z Pick up all backpacks & cell phones (items may be returned students as they complete the test and are sent back to their regularly scheduled classes) Z 8:35 A.M. - distribute testing material & begin testing directions Z Place “Testing Do Not Disturb” sign outside door Z Use “Help” sign & Nurse/Bathroom passes as needed Z 8:40 A.M. - Mr. Rodriguez will address students Z 9:00 A.M. - give attendance roster to Cynthia Cardenas Z 11:45 A.M. - Pick up ALL test material (turn in test material to N. L. Espinoza to be locked and secured during lunch) Z 11:55 A.M. - Sack Lunch will arrive for students Z 11:55 - 12:35 P.M. - Test Administrator’s lunch (students will be monitored by Sub/Reliever) Z 12:35 P.M. - Pick up test material from N. L. Espinoza and resume testing Z SIGN BOTTOM OF OATH with N. L. Espinoza

11 MATERIALS FOR RETURN ZPlace highlighters and pencils in baggies ZNurse & Bathroom passes Z Return material in the following order : Z “Help” sign Z “Count” form Z “Transfer” Form Z Seating Chart Z Answer documents in alpha order Z Test booklets in numerical order (used or unused) Z Test Administrator’s Manual ZSign Section 2 of Test Specific Oath ZOral Administrators will need to sign Section 3 of Test Specific Oath

12 INDIVIDUAL EMERGENCIES Occasionally a student may need to leave for a brief time. No testing material may be taken from the testing room. If student returns the Campus Testing Coordinator, and test administrator involved will determine whether confidentiality has been maintained and if the student should continue testing. If the student cannot continue testing, campus & district administration will determine whether the student’s answer document should be coded “S” score, or “O” other.

13 SCHOOL EMERGENCIES If a campus emergency takes place (example - Fire Alarm) you will leave the test where they are and go quietly outside, following campus procedures for exiting the building. The safety of you and the students are a priority. The test administrator and all other personnel MUST closely monitor their testing groups to make sure that no one discusses the test. The student should resume testing once the building has been cleared for reentry.
