2 4.1 Overview Using CE to multiply classroom engagement, learning, retention & application *******Key Focus is using CE as an end in itself and as a proven tool/strategy for boosting student learning** Consider Core & Performance Values Consider Social-Emotional Learning as a tool to enhance learning, and as an end in itself Consider CE strategies derived from Marzano’s Nine, and Howard Gardner / Project Zero Artful Thinking Project Intro boiler plate and intro topic and speaker Hook—How can we help our students work and reason with core values? Perhaps – How do we invite our students to love learning and to do good and to do well? Recognition of strategies to promote student engagement and autonomy Intro to distinction between moral and performance character Applications of core value in performance character in elem, MS and HS Intro to cognitive reasoning categories (such as Bloom) to highlight goal of teaching students to reason (analysis and evaluation) using core values and Golden Rule as a guide for ethical thinking. At upper levels, to compare and contrast key frameworks (along with the Golden Rule) for making ethical decisions….and how to apply them to past and current events in science and in social studies…..
