4 Extended Essay Each quarter one or more assignments showing progress on the extended essay will be due. If students have completed these assignments and are on track, they will receive an ‘S’ (satisfactory) on their report card. A ‘U’ will mean that they have not kept up with the extended essay timeline.

9 Exam Fees There are two student fees for IB: ◦ Registration fee: $164 ◦ Exam fee: $113/course KenTon District will pay the registration fee for students pursuing the complete diploma 6 exams @ $113 = $678

10 Saving for Exam Fees Fees will be due 15 October 2016 Assuming a couple of dollar increase, fees could be $696 next year Saving $58/month will be enough to cover exam fees Students qualifying for Free/Reduced Lunch will have their fees paid for by a government grant ◦ Paperwork due 1 October 2016

11 Academic Honesty Full policy on KE IB website and IB Handbook Plagiarism, Collusion, and Collaboration Policy in effect on all assignments, not just exams and IB papers KE consequences vs. IB consequences

12 Assessments Kenmore East grades – independent of IB grades Exams ◦ Regents – select courses (US History) ◦ AP – optional US History ◦ IB  3 to 4 assessments in each course

13 IB Assessments Internal (IA) – scored here and moderated External (EA) – scored by IB teachers somewhere else ◦ Includes: Written Assignments in Languages, Musical Investigation in Music, Art Exhibition in Visual Art, TOK paper ◦ Papers (Exams):  2 to 3 in each course, May 2017

14 Earning an IB Diploma 24 points needed for diploma ◦ 4 x 6 = 24 ◦ 12 point must come from HL courses Each IB course scored out of 7 CAS, TOK and EE must be completed ◦ TOK and EE can add up to 3 points

16 Failing Conditions May 2015 From the May 2015 examination session From the May 2015 session the following failing conditions and associated codes will replace those in current use. 1. CAS requirements have not been met. 2. Candidate’s total points are fewer than 24. 3. An N has been given for theory of knowledge, extended essay or for a contributing subject. 4. A grade E has been awarded for one or both of theory of knowledge and the extended essay. 5. There is a grade 1 awarded in a subject/level. 6. Grade 2 has been awarded three or more times (HL or SL). 7. Grade 3 or below has been awarded four or more times (HL or SL). 8. Candidate has gained fewer than 12 points on HL subjects 9. Candidate has gained fewer than 9 points on SL subjects.
