As Americans, we are familiar with the legends that helped build our country: the Vanderbilt’s, the Fords, the Rockefellers, and so on. These were men who had a vision for the country and carried it out to the benefit of all. By Aleida Johnson, Brendan White, Lyudmila Borisevich, Michael Bretter, Michael Falabella

2 The Vanderbilt family Cornelius Vanderbilt's
The family is known for 'building America's railroads'. His descendants went on to build great Fifth Avenue mansions, Newport, Rhode Island summer cottages, the famous Biltmore House and various other exclusive homes. The Vanderbilt family is a significant international family with Dutch origins; they were highly prominent during the 19th century due to family patriarch Cornelius Vanderbilt's railroad and shipping empires. The family is known for 'building America's railroads'. His descendants went on to build great Fifth Avenue mansions, Newport, Rhode Island summer cottages, the famous Biltmore House and various other exclusive homes. The family members were the leaders of the high society scene and the Gilded Age, until the early 20th century, when the ten great Fifth Avenue mansions were torn down and fellow Vanderbilt homes were sold as museums and the like. The family suffered from a major downfall in prominence by the mid-20th century, known as the fall of the House of Vanderbilt. Despite the family's downfall and major loss of fortunes, the Vanderbilt’s remain the seventh wealthiest family in history.

Founder of the Ford Motor Company. His introduction of the Model T automobile revolutionized transportation and American industry. As owner of the Ford Motor Company, he became one of the richest and best-known people in the world. Henry Ford (July 30, 1863 – April 7, 1947) was a prominent American industrialist, the founder of the Ford Motor Company, and sponsor of the development of the assembly line technique of mass production. His introduction of the Model T automobile revolutionized transportation and American industry. As owner of the Ford Motor Company, he became one of the richest and best-known people in the world. He is credited with "Fordism": mass production of inexpensive goods coupled with high wages for workers. Ford had a global vision, with consumerism as the key to peace. His intense commitment to systematically lowering costs resulted in many technical and business innovations, including a franchise system that put a dealership in every city in North America, and in major cities on six continents. Rockefeller (1839–1937) ("Senior") and his brother William Rockefeller (1841–1922), is an American industrial, banking, and political family of German origin that made one of the world's largest private fortunes in the oil business during the late 19th and early 20th century, primarily through the Standard Oil Company. The family is also known for its long association with and financial interest in the Chase Manhattan Bank, now JP Morgan Chase. 5 Chung Ju-yung In 1946 Korea; a peasant farmer by the name of Chung Ju-yung transformed that nation from a needy third world country into an international success story. He became the founder of the Hyundai Motor Industrial Company, or better own as Hyundai Group. Chung was born in North Korea in He was the oldest son of a poor peasant farming family. At the age of 18, Chung set off for good to Seoul with hopes of finding a better life. His success was not immediate. He worked in various jobs, such as railway construction, bookkeeping and dock work. Mr. Chung first experience as an entrepreneur came in 1938 when he opened his own rice store. However, he was forced to close his business a year later because of the policies of the Japanese occupation forces. It wasn’t until after World War II that Mr. Chung went into business repairing trucks for U.S. Armed Forces. He then went into the engineering and construction business, eventually building multibillion-dollar mega-projects around the world. His venture into the shipbuilding business is legendary. Despite a lack of experience in shipbuilding, he persuaded a customer to give him an order to build a ship for tens of millions of dollars. Now the company that he started is the largest shipbuilder in the world.

By his sheer force and determination Mr. Chung in 1947 Chung launched a second company; Hyundai Civil Industries which helped transformed the entire Korean economy. While the first Hyundai business was tasked with building automobiles the second Hyundai Company concentrated on construction. Much of modern South Korea’s infrastructure was built by Hyundai in the period after the Korean War in 1953 and on through the 1970s. Dams, an expressway, shipbuilding yards, even a nuclear power plant were all built by Hyundai Civil Industries, while Hyundai Motors produced cars made primarily from Japanese components.

Hyundai had their fair share of problems. They had decades of labor problems culminating in a new employee safety standards policy which was put in place in 1990s which tarnished the Hyundai mystique. Up to that point Hyundai was cited for having the worst safety standards of any corporation in the industrialized world. Cars were another source of problems for what became known as the Hyundai Group. Although now manufacturing their own vehicles, the quality of Hyundai vehicles for the first decade was considered by automobile experts to be sub-par. Today, Hyundai vehicles and Hyundai parts are, above average in quality compared to the industry as a whole. In 1975, the Pony was the first Korean car released.

In 1986, Hyundai began to sell cars in the US. The Excel was nominated as "Best Product #10" by Fortune magazine, largely because of its affordability. The company began to produce models with its own technology in 1988. After Chung’s death in 2001, Hyundai was divided up into three separate companies: Hyundai Heavy Industries, the Hyundai Motor Group, and Hyundai Engineering and Construction. Today, all three Hyundai companies continue to compete successfully in the global marketplace. From the beginning of the motor vehicle business, Chung consistently insisted that it would be impossible without establishing a transfer of technology relationship with advanced nations.

The company’s goal is to provide superior IT support and investment advantages. The formation of the company was another significant example of Hyundai Kia Automotive Group's commitment to the United States market, their way of better meeting the information technology demands of this fast-growing company which aims high to be among the worlds best in technology and quality. HISNA provides Hyundai with system development services, infrastructure services and ADM services.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM): HISNA offers custom CRM consulting services to Hyundai such as enterprise integration or advanced business services. Expert consultants from HISNA meet with the organization to understand their business requirements and then develop and deploy the solution tailored to Hyundai’s specific needs. e-Learning: HISNA offers an e-Learning service to Hyundai affiliates. HISNA develops and deploys digital/online training content for dealership, employees and individuals.
