8 The Gilded Age 1890 Sherman Anti-trust Act is passed – it made monopolies and trusts (deals between companies that work to form a monopoly) illegal - AFL founded by Samuel Gompers – Labor Unions grow and organize

9 The Gilded Age 1896 Plessy v. Ferguson – “Separate but Equal” is ruled in Supreme Court – it’s okay to have separate facilities and services for different races, as long as those facilities are equal in quality
