8 This course provides the basic cognitive, psychomotor and attitude skills that help student build a solid function for professional nursing practice to care for the patient at time of illness and wellness. The nursing process is viewed as framework to guide the student to think critically when interacting with patients to maintain or improve their level of health.

9 It provides the student with the scientific principles underlying the intervention of basic nursing procedures in a supervised laboratory and clinical settings. Clinical experiences will be provided in a variety of settings which provide opportunities for the beginning student to initiate specific nursing skills and interventions for health promotion, risk reduction, disease prevention and illness management.
