1 Shower Vs Bath. By

2 My big Question is what uses less water, a bath or a shower.

3 Hypothesis My hypothesis is that a shower will use less water because you can take a quick shower and not use much water at all.

4 5 Interesting Facts 1.You use 18 liters per minute of water in a shower. 2.The average shower length is 8 minutes. 3.The average size for a bathtub is 30 inches by 60 Inches. 4.The average amount a bath holds is 50 to 60 liters. 5.If each person in a class of 25 showered for 5 minutes instead of 10 then then they would save a total of 2,250 liters of water.

5 Materials Stopwatch or clock. A shower and bathtub. Masking tape
Measuring Tape. Notebook

6 Step by step instructions.
1. once a day for five days use the stopwatch or clock to record how long it takes you to take a shower each day. 2. after each shower record your results in you notebook 3. find the average amount of time for showering 4 now fill the bathtub with the normal amount of water you use and put a piece of masking tape at the water level. 5.Now from the bottom of the bathtub up to the masking tape measure it in centimeters or inches. 6. Take one more shower before you shower, look in your notebook and find the measurement you recorded for the bath. Place another piece of masking tape at that same spot you measured inside your bathtub once again. Now look in your notebook for the average time for showering. Use your stopwatch or clock to take a shower for that average length of time. Finally look at your results.

7 Control/variable My control is an 8 minute shower.
My variable is the water in the bath.

8 Observations 1. The bath used more water than the shower.
2.The shower is the best way to bathe. 3.My shower head is not very powerful. 4.Other shower heads may use more water.

9 Data Water used in Inches for shower: 3 Inches
Water used in Inches for bath: 11 Inches The average time for a shower is 8 minutes.

10 Analysis of Data The experiment tested my hypothesis the way I expected it to. I know this because it told me what used less water.

11 Conclusion My hypothesis was correct.
If I could change one thing I would change the shower head and see if it changes the amount of water used. One new question I have is what's the best shower head for saving water
