4. M AYBE T HERE S HOULDN ' T B E S UMMER B REAK Most average students forget a good amount of what they learned in school during summer break. Also most average students complain about how short weekends are or how early they have to get up. All of these problems could be solved by taking away summer break and by having longer weekends and shorter days. All by just having school non-stop. Doing away with summer break would be beneficial to Mona Shores because people don’t like how short weekends are, they don’t like how early they have to get up in the morning, and we would not have to spend weeks relearning and reviewing in the beginning of the year. Longer weekends are beneficial for multiple reasons. Students wouldn't miss as many school days due to illness and would have more time to recover. They also wouldn't be gone because of vacations or trips because they would have enough time to not be missing school. The last two reasons is that students wouldn't be so tired and homework would be turned in on time and not rushed to be completed on the last day of the weekend or at the beginning of the day. Everyone can agree with starting school later. If school started later in the day students would not be so tired and grumpy. Students that are not tired can focus better and learn more. Mornings for most students are very rushed and hurried if school started later there would be more time to get ready. Having shorter days would give students more time to study and work on projects. Summer lasts so long kids forget a large portion of what they learned at school. Having no summer break and just school all year long with the shorter days and longer weekends would make sure students did not forget their education. Kids in china go to school all year round and it proves my theory that this idea is successful and does work. Some people would reject the idea because its new and different and not the way school has ever been done before. If one school tried it this way and it was successful then other school would definitely consider this a good way to run schools.

5. C OMPLETE YOUR B ODY P ARAGRAPHS Your body paragraphs elaborate on the three reasons from your thesis. You will have three body paragraphs (like a 5 paragraph essay), but they will be brief paragraphs to stay within the time constraint. Example- Example- The first reason why the school should add an extra hour to Sailor Celebration is because students will be happier students. Favorably, students love hanging out with their friends! Mrs. Prentice loves to dance like a maniac with the jump rope with her colleagues. Also, studies have shown and of course you can tell in your classes that the more fun the students are having, the more they are likely to learn the information. Why wouldn’t you want to have better tests scores and see students having fun, at the tiny cost of an extra hour of Sailor Celebration. Work on your own detailed, persuasive body paragraphs.

6. C ONCLUSIONS You conclusion should clearly wrap up your entire argument for the audience and restate your thesis. End your speech with something POWERFUL; a call to action, imagery, a statement that will make your audience think. Example- Bullying is a tough subject that raises many questions. As years go by, bullying is just getting worse. This is an issue that must be dealt with at our middle school because it lowers self esteem, causes people to self harm, and can lead to suicide. So as you go about your school day watch how you treat others; we are all fellow Sailors!
