History o Islam was introduced to what is now Pakistan in the 8th century o Muhammad Ali Jinnah a polotition in India wanted freedom from British control o Pakistan was created in August 14, 1947 because the Muslems following Muhammad Ali Jinnah were not happy in India o Liaqat Ali Khan was the first Primeminister who gain power after Muhammad Ali Jinnah died (1948) o Liaqat Ali Khan was assinated in 1951 o Political and economicle difficulty was in early Pakistan o (The Birth of Pakistan)

4 Government Prime Minister- Syed Yousef Raza Gilani, age 56, head of government. Assisted by Federal cabinet. 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan. Asif Ali Zardari, president since 2008, head of state. Federal Parliamentary system. Senate, National Assembly Four provinces, each one has a governor. Judicial system, has supreme courts, and other high courts. (Government Structure)

5 Culture The main language of Pakistan is Urdu but most Pakistanis chose to speak english instead. Islam is practiced by most pakistanis. Islam governs their personal, economical, political and legal lives. Friday is a Muslim holy day and everything is closed. During the month of Ramadan all muslims fast from dawn to dusk. Fasting includes no eating, gum chewing, drinking, or cigarette smoking. Muslims pray five times a day at dawn, noon, afternoon, sunset, and evening. Family is the basis of the social structure (Pakistan - Language, Culture, Customs and Etiquette)
