Implementation status and timeline Currently implemented modules: development proposal, limited proposal budget, institutional proposal, worklow routing Next phase: integration with new KFS-based organizational hierarchy; fully functional proposal budget, S2S integration with grants.gov Future modules: negotiations, award, protocols (COI, IRB, IACUC)

6. Challenges to be addressed Document management: –Research administration activities involve a large of volume of documents –Kuali Coeus does not supply a way to find and/or manage various document attachments –Neither does it provide capabilities to integrate with external systems

Challenges to be addressed Running several Kuali systems with different versions of Kuali Rice –Due to resource constraints and project deadlines, UC Irvine will be running KFS and KC with different versions of Rice, thus duplicating data and configuration –This scenario adds to the challenges with document management

Challenges to be addressed Integration with PPS/UCPath –Employee data is needed to fill in many government sponsored projects forms –In particular, salaries and appointments are needed for budgeting purposes Mobile interfaces –Not in KC’s roadmap at this time, will need to be developed by implementing institutions –Great potential for collaboration

Challenges to be addressed Interfacing with UCOP's C&G systems and reporting to UCOP Compliance and disclosure tracking –There is a possibility to use KC for compliance management outside of research administration Datawarehousing and reporting –Is there a possibility to develop common solutions?

Challenges to be addressed Access Management –We are planning to use Kuali Identity Management (KIM) module as a replacement for the home-grown Security Access Management System –However, there are no provisions for distributed access management and Kuali Security Request (KSR) system developed by rSmart is not mature enough –There are also no out-of-the-box provisions for automated record de-activation
