1 E-mail-Electronic mail which allows individuals with an account to send messages to another person with an e- mail account. IRC- internet relay chat was developed in 1988 by jarkko oikarinen and allows instant online communicating with someone else who is also online by typing messages back and forth BBS-bulleting board service allows a uses to participate in a discussion group

2 HTTP-hyper text transfer protocol is used for handling the transmission of pages between a web service and a web browser FTB-file transfer protocol is used to rapidly transfer files TELNET-A program used on networks such as the internet to allow users to remotely log on to a server on the network.

3 GOPHER-one of the first widespread internet browsing service. Intranet-A network used by a single organized and only accessible by authorized users. Firewall-a network security system that prevents unauthorized network access.
