What is Plagiarism? Stealing someone elses work and claiming it as your own Sometimes we do this without thinking This is LITERARY THEFT! So, … how can we avoid this habit?
Learn how To Take Notes!!
You take notes so you will,… Remember what you read Not copy someone elses exact words Be able to put the information in your own words later Why Take Notes?
Rules for Note-Taking Rule 1: Write clearly. If you cant read it later, it wont do You any good!
Rule 2: Outline Writing EVERYTHING is too hard!
Rule 3: Focus and Think! What is important about what you are writing?
To summarize: Read carefully! Write clearly! Look away from text! Outline! Focus and Think! Put the notes in your own words!
More ideas: Make lists Highlight important ideas on a printed page Use graphic organizers Make notes on3 x 5 cards and organize in a pocket chart or on a table top Use lined notebook paper Draw a chart and fill it in Create a web Use a tape recorder, then transcribe the words into written form Use Inspiration or Kidspiration to organize your thoughts
