4 3 Initial Assessment (IA) Initial Assessment (IA) to determine new student’s level of English proficiency □ Administered to all new students (to the district) in Grades K-8 with a language other than English as determined by their Primary Language Survey □ Must be administered within 30 calendar days of enrollment □ Administered throughout the year

5 4 Annual Assessment (AA) Annual Assessment (AA) to assess all English learners on their progress in acquiring English proficiency □ Administered to all continuing English learners in Grades K-8 □ Administered September 3, 2013, through October 31, 2013 □ Used in determining Reclassification (w/ELA STAR results, teacher input, parent consultation)
