2  What is Fair Trade? Type of trading partnership Farmers and workers in developing countries are guaranteed fair compensation for their products and labour Provides sustainable environmental conditions Farmers and workers work together in a democratic co-operative

3  What impact does Fair Trade have? Stimulates investment in local economic infrastructure in developing countries Creates sustainable livelihoods for workers and farmers Allows access to health care and education Most importantly, it empowers farmers and workers with more control over their lives.

5  What are the general standards for a product to be certified “Fair Trade?” Must be imported as directly as possibly Must provide a fair price Importer must adhere to a long-term commitment with the Fair Trade cooperative Cooperatives must abide by certain environmental standards

6  How do I know if an item is Fair Trade certified? All Fair Trade certified products will be marked with this symbol:

7  How can I make a difference? Simply buying Fair Trade products is a way you can help to effectively alleviate poverty. By making the change to Fair Trade products, you can have a direct impact in improving the lives of others.

8  What are some examples of Fair Trade products I can buy? Bananas, chocolate, cotton & clothing, and coffee are all examples of Fair Trade certified products.
