4 A Look at Numbers Less than 3% of teachers statewide have earned a Reading Endorsement/Certification. The numbers in Leon County are slightly higher at approximately 10%. 5 Certification vs. Endorsement Reading Certification consists of 30 university course credit hours or a Masters Degree in Reading. 6 Three Ways to Earn Reading Endorsement: 1. Have transcripts reviewed by the Certification department at the DOE 2. Complete a College of Education endorsement program 3. Complete a districts add-on program for the endorsement- see the matrix.
